Since 2018, we have been filming boating where it really happens: out at sea, in all weather conditions. Our ambition is simple, to make nautical training accessible to everyone, at their own pace.
Ocean Skills is here to guide and teach anyone who wants to learn to handle a boat, improve their skills, refresh their knowledge and experience the sea in a new way.
Our platform offers hundreds of learning resources (videos, summary sheets and more) created by maritime and teaching professionals, designed for the digital age.
Ocean Skills has been available online, in French and English, 24/7 since 2020. Whether you already go out on the water or are planning to, on a cruising sailboat (monohull or catamaran) or a powerboat, we have everything you need.
We also offer a course to help you ride a personal watercraft safely and with complete peace of mind.
Franck leads strategy and development at Ocean Skills. After more than 18 years in senior learning and development roles at major French corporations, he left the corporate world to found Ocean Skills in September 2018. Passionate about the sea, life on the water and digital learning, he turned his dream of bringing these two passions together into reality: Ocean Skills.
A small team united by one shared idea: making nautical training accessible, rigorous and engaging.
Four commitments that shape every piece of content we create, from filming at sea to your screen.
Content organized by boat type and level, designed by teaching professionals so you can progress at your own pace.
Every maneuver is explained so you can head out with confidence, knowing how to anticipate rather than be caught off guard.
Videos filmed in real conditions and produced by maritime professionals, for reliable and accurate content.
In French and English, 24/7: learn wherever you want, whenever you want.
Every sequence is scripted in advance: what we want to show, from which angle and in which sea conditions. The content is approved by boating professionals before filming begins.
Onboard cameras, 4K footage, real boats, real conditions. When a maneuver needs wind, we wait for the wind.
Each video is broken down into short segments, so you can rewatch a specific technique without searching for it. And when a key point is worth keeping close at hand, a summary sheet complements the video.
